For decades, my father had spent his time trying to advance Sanskrit to the world. He developed his own techniques to simplify Sanskrit so everyone could learn to speak it. Using simple rhymes and poems, he started to teach Sanskrit to children as young as 3 years old. He was supported by his youngest brother Sri. K. Sampath in his efforts. They taught Sanskrit to everyone including people living in the slums of Madras (Chennai).
My father was also fond of Carnatic music and had done considerable research in Carnatic music and Bharathanatyam. Many leading personalities had consulted him and enriched their knowledge. Sri K. Sampath continues to carry the torch and support my father's mission' vision. Sri P.K. Srinivasan was the eldest son of Sri. P. V. Krishnaswamy Iyengar. My paternal grandfather had similar visions and my father and Sri. Sampath created scholarships to aid students learning Sanskrit. My father always believed in advancement of knowledge. To that end, my brother Venkatesh Srinivasan and I (Sundhar Srinivasan) have decided to publish his works as much as possible and promote his teachings and works. This is one way of fulfilling his dreams.
In this website we intend to publish a lot of material that my late Father Sri. P. K. Srinivasan had worked on related to Sanskrit and also Carnatic music.
His vision was to make the great language Sanskrit or Samskritam easy for every one to learn, especially children. Sri. P. K. Srinivasan (1924 - 1998) translated one of Sri. Sundapalayam Ramabadra Kavi's (1840 - 1904) works, "CHITHRAKAVYAM."
The original work was written in Grantha Lipi consisting of two parts.
My father died before he could transliterate all the slokas. Sri. P. K. Srinivasan also published a series of books in the seventies exclusively on Sudharsana strothas (slokasa/verses). He named them as Sowdarsini series. There were, in all, three series that he published. We are reproducing them for everyone's benefit, here. Enjoy your blissful journey.
